Scottish-American Society of Rhode Island

The John & Betty MacLean Memorial Scholarship

The John & Betty MacLean Memorial Scholarship was created in the 100th Anniversary year of the Scottish-American Society of Rhode Island to commemorate their contributions to the Society’s mission to promote Scottish culture. John MacLean was an educator in the City of Warwick for many years, and served as the Department Head of the Social Studies Department at Pilgrim High School. John and Betty each served the Society in many capacities and our organization would not be what it is today without their tireless efforts as champions of the Scottish culture.

This $1,000 award is available to a Rhode Island resident High School Senior.

Applications may be submitted between February 15th and April 15th, 2026.  The winner of the scholarship will be notified in May, 2026 via email.
