Scottish-American Society of Rhode Island

Our Mission

We foster community engagement by hosting social events, educational programs, and welcoming all who share an interest in Scotland’s rich history, culture, and traditions.

The Society endeavors to be the focal point for cultural awareness and re-awakening within not only the Scottish and Rhode Island communities, but also the more general population of the New England states through participation and/or presence at various Highland Festivals or similar events during the year.

In particular, our annual Burn Supper is endorsed by the RI Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission in recognition of its cultural importance. Please enjoy this video prepared for the RI Heritage Month’s Virtual Celebration in 2021

Whisky Tasting1

Whisky Tasting

This popular yearly event is held in late April, and is a chance for drinkers of the ‘water of life’ to try different types of whisky.  Food pairings are carefully selected for each whisky, ensuring that the combination is better than each of the elements alone.

Non-society members are welcome, but seating is limited to 50 tasters – registration is required.  Those that wish to join us for a glass of wine and small plates are welcome to attend.
